Deputy Head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Borys Tarasiuk held a meeting with the delegation of the Senate of the French Republic

On September 11, Deputy Head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Borys Tarasiuk met with the delegation of the French Senate headed by the President of the France-Ukraine Friendship Group of the Senate of the French Republic Herve Maurey. The French delegation also included the Deputy President of the France-Ukraine Friendship Group, Senator Jacques Legendre. The meeting was also attended by a Co-chair of the Parliamentary Group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the French Republic Oleksiy Honcharenko, MP.

In the course of the meeting, the parties exchanged their views on the topical issues of their bilateral relations. The importance of intensifying the bilateral political dialogue at the inter-parliamentary level was noted. In the context of discussing the situation in the occupied Crimea and the illegal trips of some French deputies to the Crimea, H. Maurey emphasized that the French party remained in the position of unconditional support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and that the French Government informed the parliamentarians of its reluctance to any visits to the Crimea without consent by official Kyiv.

The parties discussed cooperation between parliamentarians of both countries in inter-parliamentary bodies, exchanged their views on the process of peaceful settlement of the consequences of the Russian aggression in Donbas.

The Ukrainian party thanked to the French senators for their consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the continuing Russian aggression against our state.
