To the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Famines

Dear compatriots!

Today is a very mournful day – the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Famines.

The Stalin regime resorted to serial killings of Ukrainians at least three times. These were famines of the years 1921-1923, 1932-1933 and 1946-1947. The most horrible was the famine of 1932-1933. Only in that horrible 1933, Ukraine lost over three millions of its sons and daughters. While people were dying in terrible agony right on the streets, their grain was just rotting in bolshevik procurement offices.

Any kind of dictatorship can stay in power just by parasitizing on lives and fates of people, by intimidating them, by isolation from the whole world, and by forming a distorted reality with false values. The famines aimed to root out from Ukrainians the spirit of freedom, of independence, and of domesticity. By destroying millions of lives they wanted to destroy the people. But they failed.

This crime against humanity can not be forgotten. Eternal memory to the tortured innocent Ukrainians! Let us light a candle today for those who have passed away because of insatiable nature of the brutal regime! We should be very careful to prevent similar tragedy from happening again!
