Borys Tarasiuk, Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was elected a co-president of the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly at a meeting of the EuroNest PA’s Eastern European Component

There also took place a meeting of the Euronest PA Bureau. During the meeting, the participants discussed the results of the presidential elections in Georgia, the parliamentary elections in Armenia, as well as the state of play in coming presidential elections in Ukraine, parliamentary elections in Moldova and elections to the European Parliament, scheduled to take place in 2019.

Additionally, there was paid close attention to the exchange of information between the Bureau members that had participated in various events within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.

The Bureau members exchanged views on the organizational issues of the assembly's work, future plans for the committees and working groups of the assembly for 2019, and decided to hold the next 8th sessions of the Euronest PA in Georgia.

At the meeting, Borys Tarasiuk proposed new ideas aimed at strengthening cooperation between the partner countries and the EU in the security sphere in connection with the ongoing aggressive policy of Russia, the temporary occupation of the Crimea and the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, the deterioration of the security situation in the region, the hybrid threats that Russia poses and its interference in electoral processes.

The co-president Borys Tarasiuk also outlined the major expectations of the partner countries from the Eastern Partnership.
