Dear Warriors of Ukraine,
On December 6, 1991, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine "On the Armed Forces of Ukraine".
And today, on this very day, we celebrate the holiday of our Ukrainian army. Our armed forces are inheritors of the feat of first Ukrainian military units of modern times: the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen, the armies of the UNR and ZUNR, the heroes of Kholodnyi Yar as well as hundreds and even thousands of other rebel warlike units.
Modern Armed Forces of Ukraine are also inheritors of heroes of the Carpathian Sich – the armed forces of the independent Carpatho-Ukraine, and also the courageous soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.
The modern Ukrainian army has been created by concerted efforts of devoted sons of Ukraine, true patriots, who brought yesterday's Soviet military units to the Oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine, often risking not only their further military career, but even their lives.
The fighting prowess of Ukrainian soldiers in the Donbas war has broken the Russian aggressor’s plans. And now, at these very moments, our army courageously holds the shield of Europe in the east of Ukraine against the Russian invasion.
Our deep gratitude and honour to our champions, who skillfully, courageously and sacrificially protect our sovereign borders and peaceful life of Ukrainians!
I wish our soldiers and their families a sound health, well-being and a peaceful sky above their heads. Return alive! Let all the bullets miss you!
