Members of the Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Provision participated on November 15 in an international conference on pension payments to IDPs and how to exercise this right in practice

The event was organized by the SSS "Stabilization Support Services", the “IDP Advisor” programme in cooperation with the Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Provision and with assistance of the USAID project “Key issues of Ukraine’s pension system reform”.

In attendance, there were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Ukraine Judith Hoff, Head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Fiona Frazer, the Deputy Representative, UNHCR Ukraine Noel Calhoun, the First D Head of the Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Provision Serhii Kaplin,  the committee secretary Nataliia Veselova, representatives of central executive authorities, the Pension Fund of Ukraine, international and non-governmental organizations, and the mass media.

All the speeches delivered boiled down to just one polar thing – the mechanism of pension payments to IDPs must be amended for its poor performance and stiffness. During the discussion, there were broached the issues of payments verification, IDPs identification, return of accumulated debts over previous periods and the like.

A ministerial officer assured those present that starting from this December there would be launched an updated database on IDPs.

Serhii Kaplin stressed neither of IDPs could be deprived of voting right, and stated about international support in solving the problems of our country, including those pertaining to internally displaced persons.
