The head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko held a meeting with Benjamin Schmitt, European Energy Security Advisor, U.S.Department of State.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of Ukraine's energy independence, priorities in reforming the local energy sector and the need to combine efforts aiming to prevent the Nord Stream 2 project from being implemented.
The meeting was held in the framework of the dialogue that had taken place during the recent visit to Kyiv by Francis Fannon, the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy.
Particular attention was paid to improving Ukraine’s investment climate, as well as overcoming corruption in the energy sector.
