Iryna Herashchenko and Iryna Friz presented parliamentary distinctions   to representatives of the Odesa sea guard detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine

In the course of their working visit to Odesa, Iryna Herashchenko, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukriane, and Iryna Friz, a representative of the parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defence, the head of the UA Permanent delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly stopped on May 18 by the Odesa sea guard detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to communicate with the detachment’s command.

The politicians inspected the boats and ships defending the state border of Ukraine.

During the meeting with the command and the detachment’s complement, the parliamentarians spoke about the peculiarities of the current security and defense reforms in Ukraine.

The First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada I.Herashchenko awarded a pack of the detachment servicemen with parliamentary honorary certificates.

With a minute’s silence and laying floral tributes, the parliamentarians honoured the memory of two detachment’s officers, Denys Pietukhov and Yevhenii Kolisnychenko, who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

Another moment of silence was dedicated by them to the memory of the victims of the large-scale deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944.
