On April 22, the Head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko took part in the festivities devoted to the 100th anniversary of liberation of the Crimea from the Russian-Bolshevik occupants by the Ukrainian army.

In Chonhar, bordering the Crimea occupied, there were held a range of festive gatherings and a concert dedicated to the developments of 1918, whilst the people of Novooleksiivka station enjoyed the opening ceremony of a commemorative plaque arranged by the “Heroika” charitable organization.

The ceremony was also attended by the Crimean presidential aide Borys Babin, representatives of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, the local authorities, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, servicemen, and public persons.

“The brilliant liberation of the Crimea by the Ukrainian army led by Petro Bolbochan became a landmark page in the Book of struggle for our independence and territorial integrity. Today, when Ukraine again has faced up to liberating the Crimea from the same Russian occupation, the memory about this heroic page of the Ukrainian revolution strengthens our confidence in victory,” observed Hanna Hopko.

The committee head H.Hopko and the aide B.Babin paid a visit to Chonhar peninsula to greet the Ukrainian border guards there and had much talk on stiffening inviolability of Ukraine’s southern frontiers.

Hanna Hopko is about to take part on April 23 in the roundtable talks on the 100th anniversary of the Crimean operation and the pressing issues of the state de-occupation policy. She will also discuss the regional decentralization and international cooperation matters with representatives of the local government.
