Opening today’s morning plenary meeting of the Parliament, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy informed that today was the 100th anniversary since the day the General Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian People's Republic had been established, spurring on creation of the modern foreign policy service of Ukraine. The Chairman congratulated Ukraine’s corps diplomatique on this great occasion.

It was then announced there was a range of ministers of the Cabinet in attendance at the House, headed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman. An “Ask the Government” hour broke out. The culture minister rendered his view over reforming the system of culture, its management and the branch-wise key priorities set by the Government. Then, there was an officer from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine who told about how the Government of Ukraine supported the business and refined the investment potential of the country. After that, the ministers answered the questions of the House sitters, including the government’s prospects upon the future growth of Ukraine’s economy -- at the end of the hour.

The First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko read out MPs’ requests. The members of parliament then announced their statements, questions and proposals.

The Presiding Officer closed the last plenary meeting of the year.

The working timetable for the two fortnights to come:

-         December 26-29, 2017 and January 2-5, 2018 – voter education,

-          January 9-12, 2018 – working in their committees.

Next plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is to take place at the Parliament’s premises on January 16, 2018.
