Respective letter was sent by the Ukrainian parliamentarians to Head of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of the French Republic, Elisabeth Guigou; Head of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Commission of the French Senate, Jean-Pierre Raffarin; Head of the France-Ukraine Friendship Group of the French Senate Herve Maurey; and Head of the Ukraine-France Interparliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly Remi Pauvros.

In their address the Ukrainian MPs drew attention to the illegal visit of the French parliamentarians to Crimea on July 29-31, 2016.

Dear colleagues,

On this occasion, we would like to express our gratitude for Your particular contribution to the international assistance in Ukraine's efforts to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We thank You for Your strong position in condemnation of the unlawful occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by the Russian Federation and distribution of unbiased information about numerous and systemic infringement of human rights on the occupied territories.

At the same time, we have to express our concern over the unauthorized visit of the French parliamentarians to Crimea on July 29-31, 2016.

Ukraine believes that such visits undermine the efforts of the world community to restore territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. We consider the politicians taking part in such trips to be an instrument of the Russian aggressor and its propaganda.

We are confident that the French political elite would provide its proper assessment to the said actions. We do hope that You would join the French parliamentarians and the society in their willingness to vigorously condemn such actions. We call on You to take every possible measure to prevent such cases in the future as they violate the international law, rules of civilized behavior and prove conscious playing of some politicians into the hands of the Kremlin.

Sincerely Yours,
