On 6 April, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace was celebrated around the world! And it was on this day, exactly two years ago, that the team of the Sports Committee of Ukraine founded the project "Angels of Sport".
“Vinnytsia became the fifteenth city to host the photo exhibition. At the exhibition in Vinnytsia, 120 stories were presented. Among them are athletes from Vinnytsia and Vinnytsia region. The opening of the photo exhibition was attended by the families of the Angels, the families of the Heroes: the wife of our Hero Valerii Rodionov, Diana Rodionova, and the family of the Hero Yurii Yanovych!
Together with thousands of ordinary Ukrainians who have never taken up arms, athletes stood up to defend the country in the first days of the full-scale invasion,” said Iryna Borzova, the MP, Head of the Subcommittee on State Youth Policy.
“Many of them continue to defend our land today, but, unfortunately, there are also those who died. Among them are world and European champions, multiple winners of national championships in Olympic and non-Olympic sports, sports veterans and those who were just starting out – children, future stars whose lives were brutally cut short.
“Such events are necessary to create a culture of remembrance of our Heroes, to create a culture of honouring the feat of the soldiers of the russian-Ukrainian war, and to create historical memory.
The exhibition will run at the Art Museum until 1 May. Please tell your friends and acquaintances – as many people as possible should know about the deeds of our Angels,” the Ukrainian MP concluded.
