The so-called "presidential elections" that russia is holding in the occupied Ukrainian territories cannot be called real elections. This is an international crime. The international community should not recognise the results of this "vote".

This was stated by Oleksandr Merezhko, the MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.

“The Verkhovna Rada appealed to the parliaments of other countries, states, governments, and international organisations not to recognise the so-called presidential elections in the russian federation in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. This procedure cannot be called a genuine election, as it is a commission of an international crime that violates the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” the politician noted.

He added that the Verkhovna Rada also called for continued sanctions and political and diplomatic pressure against the russian federation to stop committing crimes and bring all those responsible to justice.

The document also calls on Ukraine's partners to increase assistance to our Defence Forces, provide the necessary military support, and take an active part in the implementation of President Zelenskyi's Peace Formula and the inaugural Global Peace Summit.
