The "presidential elections" held by the russian federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine make a mockery of the democratic election procedure. This is not only illegal, but also a very dangerous phenomenon to which the civilised world must pay attention and respond.
This was stated by Vadym Halaichuk, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the European Union.
“People's deputies supported the appeal to governments, parliamentarians and, in general, to the peoples of the world, drawing attention once again to the action that russia calls "elections". We are particularly concerned about the processes in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where there is a threat to the lives, health and safety of our citizens. We have no doubt that the results of these "elections" will not be recognised in the democratic world, but we urge you to pay special attention to the procedures being applied, to the fact that russia is now trying to involve millions of Ukrainian citizens in this action,” the politician said.
According to him, russia does not care about the legality of the voting procedure, and people will simply be driven to the polling stations.
