The resumption of container shipping by sea through Ukrainian ports is extremely important for our farmers, who will be able to form small batches of grain, load them into containers, sign direct contracts and send products to customers. Containerised shipping will also reduce the price of imports.

This was stated by Dmytro Solomchuk, the MP and member of the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.

“We are currently negotiating with the owners of container ships, and the issue of insurance has already been resolved under the Ukraine Facility programme. It is important that both container ship owners and customers are interested in insurance. The funds for this are already available. I am confident that the launch of container shipping will definitely have a very good economic effect,” the politician said.

According to him, the resumption of such transport is very important not only for exports but also for imports.

“The total volume of trade turnover can reach thousands of tonnes per day if container traffic is launched. We have enough to ship, we have enough products. And if imports come through our ports, it will reduce the cost of products and enable Ukrainian producers to spend much less on logistics. It is definitely cheaper than sending or receiving products from the ports of Poland or the Baltic States,” the MP said.
