Having unleashed a war against Ukraine, russia has caused our country such damage that the russian assets seized abroad alone are not enough to rebuild. Therefore, russia must pay reparations after our victory.

This was stated by Denys Maslov, the MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy.

“Those russian assets that are frozen abroad should be transferred to Ukraine. The European community has already decided to transfer the proceeds of such assets to Ukraine. We are talking about approximately EUR 4.4 billion for the previous two years. This is not enough to restore our country. There is also a proposal by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron to provide Ukraine with loans secured by frozen russian assets. There are certain statements by US officials. So, there is progress in the issue of recovering russian assets in favour of Ukraine,” the politician noted.

He stressed that these funds alone are not enough to rebuild Ukraine, and russia must pay reparations after our victory.

“The payment of reparations should be made, among other things, through possible sales of minerals by russia. This is the only condition for allowing them to do so. Also, one of the sources of covering the damage caused to Ukrainian businesses and citizens will be grants or contributions to a special fund from countries that are currently supporting Ukraine, such as the EU, the US, Japan, G7 members, South Korea, etc.”, the MP said.

According to him, another important source of recovery is our own resources, which will appear after the recovery of Ukraine's economy, which will be able to generate revenues on its own.
